Perspectives on the Media Literacy in the Czech Republic

The bachelor thesis consists of two parts. A theoretical part that explains the terms used to implement the work and describes its theoretical basis, and a practical part in the form of written interviews with respondents from the field of media education. The theoretical part introduces the interview genre and describes its possible methods, approximates the requirements of media education contained in the framework educational programs and recommended expected outputs, and presents projects focused on media literacy. The practical part of the work consists of interviews with Přemysl Danda, PhDr. Jan Jirák Ph.D., Michal Kaderka and PhDr. Radim Wolák.

Indicators of educational results in chemistry teaching of the Czech Republic

This thesis focuses on the indicators of quality of education. The indicators are learning exercises the aim of which is to prove whether the tested pupils reached the level of knowledge defined by the national curriculum and listed in the Framework Education Programme. While learning Chemistry, the students should master the key competencies and educational objectives from the education area "Man and Nature" and further from the subject of Chemistry. The thesis focuses on the evidence of reaching the educational goals in Chemistry within the scope of General Chemistry. Since the level of knowledge defined by the Framework Education Programme is not very specific, the author of this thesis decided to settle the educational goals for the subject of General Chemistry based on the study of expert literature and curricular documents. Furthermore, the author also suggests a system of indicators which can be used to verify reaching these goals by the pupils of the secondary schools. The thesis also includes one of the models of working with such indicators. The indicator system was first assessed by a focus group (Chemistry teachers and experts in Didactics of Chemistry). Food Chemistry and Nutrition in Chemistry Secondary Education

This PhD thesis deals with a topic of food chemistry and nutrition in secondary school education in chemistry lessons. The theoretical part summarizes significance and evaluation of textbooks and furthermore it focuses on modern approaches in chemistry lessons with the main focus on interactive boards. The methodological part deals with the analysis of framework educational programs, textbook analysis, questionaire surveys and creation of teaching materials. The practical part of this thesis summarizes the results of analysis of framework educational programs and textbooks in relation to food chemistry and diseases related to nutrition. It shows results of a questionnaire survey which has examined knowledge of students in the area of proper nutrition, diet and diseases related to nutrition and also relationship of students to this issue and to the subject of chemistry in general. It also summarizes the results of verification of studying materials which have arisen in this thesis. The practical part also includes an educational text for teachers on the topic of lipids, which was developed based on the results of extensive analysis of secondary school chemistry and biology textbooks, framework analysis of educational programs and research at secondary schools in the Czech Republic. Vertification of proposed standards for physical education in school practice

Title: Verification of proposed standards for physical education in school practice Objectives: The main purpose of this thesis was to analyze knowledge, skills and level of physical abilities and attitudes of ninth grade elementary school pupils , according to the RVP ZV standards suggested for physical education. Methods: questionnaires were used to obtain data and they were analyzed afterwards Results: The results of the analysis does not correspond with the expectations that students have sufficient knowledge of activities and its influence on their health in the classes of physical education. According to the Physical education teachers, students' attitude towards physical education is rather negative. Pupils have insufficient general theoretical knowledge on this field and it would be useful to enforce (upcoming) standards into classes of physical education in the Czech republic. . Teachers education in the field of Czech media education. Focusing on the situation on the grammar school level

This paper focuses on the much discussed topic of media literacy. Rather than focussing on the education of pupils, it turns to the possibilities of education primarily of high school teachers in the area of media education. It briefly presents the issue of media education and media literacy, and its historical tradition in the Czech lands. It focuses on the principles and rules of adult education from the point of view of andragogy. It analyses the offer of training programs, seminars, professional literature and specialized websites from non-profit organizations, private companies, the state and universities. A separate chapter provides an overview of the subjects taught with media themes at faculties of education. The research focuses on educational strategies and approaches to teaching media skills among several teachers from grammar schools in Plzen. It not only evaluates the amount and type of used forms of education, but takes a closer look at the motivation of teachers for further professional self-development, their relationship to the media and individual capabilities in the implementation of cross-cutting topics at individual schools.
